Geeks on tea, and tea in a (bleh!) bottle

Rating the diet green teas – Lifehacker

  • This is another great LifeHacker post about tea! Well, it’s about bottled diet green teas actually, but the page has a great discussion thread. It’s so cool to see so many geeks who are into tea! The benefits of green tea have been "mainstream" for a long time now; I think green tea itself is finally finding it’s way into whatever the heck "mainstrean" is. - post by telecommatt
Studies, scientists, and everyday people increasingly tout green tea as a miracle drug. It burns calories. It fights HIV. It cuts the risk of certain diseases. It’s good for your teeth. And it enables invisibility and teleportation. Okay, I made that last one up; been watching too much Heroes, I guess.

A Month for Green

My Dear Fellow Tea Drinkers,

We are fast approaching St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday dear to my green heart, as I am part Irishman. In honor of this, I urge you to try our Original Irish Breakfast Blend. Wonderful brilliant tea for a March morning! One of my all-time favorite blends, this tea will give you a bright, full-bodied cup that holds its flavor in the face of milk and sugar. And for those of you who choose to celebrate the great saint’s day by double fisting pints of Guiness, I strongly recommend two strong cups of this if the mornin’ after isn’t greetin’ ye right well.

Following on the “green” theme, don’t forget your green teas for the month! I was listening to an audio tape of an old tea seminar and was reminded of a certain study done of green tea that certainly caught my attention. Truly exciting! Imagine, just a half-cup of your favorite Tea Shop green tea a day and you cut your risk of high blood-pressure by more than 45%! I have a Sencha steeping for me downstairs and I feel healthier already!
